Maybe I’m naive, but 1Password has never clicked for me. It’s obviously an incredibly popular app, but I’ve always found iCloud’s keychain fits my needs. Perhaps I’m weird, but I’m not a hardcore 1Password user. I’m a pretty dedicated Calcbot fan, but a friend of mine has me trying out something fresh. Although I log my days in a Hobonichi Techo, I try to plan my schedule in Fantastical 2 so I can receive notifications prior to appointments.įor calculations, I’ve recently switched over to Soulver. I recently re-downloaded Fantastical 2 and have been working to keep more of my schedule in a digital book. Most new entries are created on the iPhone, especially with some of the features Day One 2.1 has to offer. I also have Day One in my iMac dock, but I generally use Day One on the iMac (and MacBook) to surf through old memories rather than add new entries. ITunes is in my dock, but I listen to very, very little music. I also recently downloaded the Pastebot public beta, and I’m working on different filters and pasteboards that may render Textexpander moot. Like every other efficient computer user out there, I use TextExpander for quick snippets. To optimize photos for the web, I use a simple application called ImageOptim, and I use Cyberduck to upload photos to my personal site. Normally though, Lightroom is only used on the iMac. My wife and I ventured on a three-week trip to Europe in June with only the MacBook, and I was extremely happy with how Lightroom performed on it. Lastly, I use Ulysses to manage the different channels of writing and editing I do.Īlthough it’s 100% possible - and actually incredibly enjoyable - to use Adobe Lightroom on the MacBook, it’s still a better experience on the Retina 5K iMac. On both machines, Slack, Tweetbot, and OmniFocus are open nearly 100% of the time, and I use Reeder for any RSS reading I do. I use Mail.app, Safari, and Messages fairly regularly, as they work pretty well between devices. Generally, the software I use on the iMac is also used on the MacBook. What software do you use and for what do you use it? iMac No matter how many photos I shoot, I struggle to match the incredible photos Apple chooses for its macOS launches. On both machines, I like to stick to Apple’s stock wallpapers. At that desk is my favorite Herman Miller Eames Chair, a Twelve South ParcSlope, and a second Apple Magic Mouse. The MacBook generally sits at a second desk in our condo where we can sit and write, drink coffee, or browse the internet while watching TV. We went with the Core m5, 512GB model and have been pleasantly surprised with what the little machine can do. We recently picked up a 2016 MacBook as well, which is our portable option. I store all my personal work files in iCloud Drive and back up photos in iCloud Drive as well. Lastly, I use an Apple Magic Mouse (first generation), an Apple AirPort Extreme, an old LaCie Starck 1TB hard drive, a new LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3TB desktop hard drive, a Blue Nessie microphone, and a wide range of Sony photography kit. I love the larger travel of both keyboards (which isn’t to say I don’t like the short travel of the Magic Keyboard or the MacBook it just sits in nice contrast when going back and forth) and, as an aspiring accountant, I can’t live without a numpad for very long. And, if I’m in a writing mood, I fire up the Wireless Keyboard. If I’m in the middle of classes, or if I have some office work to do at home, I quickly plug in the wired keyboard. I’ve tried a wide range of keyboards and constantly come back to two different keyboards: the Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and the Apple Wireless Keyboard. This is the closest thing we have to a dedicated home office. The iMac is set up on a homemade maple desk in a bedroom of our condo full of photo gear, backdrops, and other office stuff. I use a 2014 Retina 5K iMac with 8GB RAM and a 1TB Fusion Drive. I also write occasionally on my personal site, The Newsprint, and I work (by day) at an accounting firm and am working toward my accounting designation. I am the Deals Editor and Reviews Editor for Tools & Toys, I shoot and sell some photographs on occasion, and I co-host the photography podcast Candid with my two friends Álvaro Serrano and Marius Masalar. My name is Josh Ginter, and I use my rig for a wide range of jobs. New setup interviews are posted every Monday follow us on RSS or Twitter to stay up to date. We do these interviews because not only are they fun, but a glimpse into what tools someone uses and how they use those tools can spark our imagination and give us an idea or insight into how we can do things better. Every week we post a new interview with someone about what software they use on their Mac, iPhone, or iPad. Changing the dns provider from the ISP to 3th party leaves the ISP with ip adresses to inspect and no dns requests. If you are implying the user was not on a corporate VPN, then there is no way the traffic was identified by the corporate firewall. You can see this in real itime if you go to a website (assuming it's one of the categories being decrypted) you can see the company signed certificate being presented rather than a public certificate authority.Īnother method that could have caught it is during the initial connection within the client hello packet there is a server name indication field that is used to identify blocked hostnames. Having deployed many of remote access VPNs for companies, most solutions provide the ability to install corporate certificates upon connection, which when configured, can be used as a man-in-the-middle to decrypt the traffic, since the firewall is signing the certificate itself. It needs access to the data within the packets to properly work. DPI is not some magic encryption breaking inspection. There is a very high chance the traffic was being decrypted at the firewall. You can work around this by buying your own domain and using that instead of the one plex gives you. The last in the list there is the custom dynamic dns server Plex Inc runs to allow you to resolve your home IP address anywhere. (there is a way to get around that for TLS 1.3, but it require custom DNS entry but it's pretty new stuff I'm not familiar with) plex.direct:32400 and is the only part of the https request that still goes over plaintext even in TLS. If you want the text (in Spanish), Chile law number 20.453Īll you can see from DPI is that userX is connecting to an IP that's owned by,. You can contact those services (not only VoIP) that rely and thrive under a free internet to be partners in the demand of the law. I remember, back in the day some ISP had VoIP services and they started to throttling their competition (without saying it of course, but you could tell and was tested). My ISP is only my provider nothing more, and in case they block a port it has to be published, it has to be because security reasons and/or is prohibited by law (never applied but it's there) and it has to be to all costumers. This behavior isn't permitted in my country because we did that 20 years ago and as result we had the first neutrality laws in the world and I'm still thanking to the universe for them because I can have any service I want among other rights. Get together as internet users group or something and start pressure for neutrality laws In the end the only thing that would get the stream working for her was when I gave her my login to try my VPN. I changed the public port to something other than the standard port and still was caught with buffering (I have one other 1080p stream going fine) Watched her try to stream a show and 15 seconds in it hit buffering and would just stick there. It was set to "preferred" previously and I switched it to required. Just thought I would let people on here know that if Plex gets flagged and throttled by more and more ISPs this could be an issue for more.Įdit: Thanks guys, I'll try to switch the Port tonight and report back if that works! I'm getting them to set up a VPN to be able to use Plex. And just last week they got back to me saying they have flagged it as pirating software and anything being sent through that will be throttled way down because of this. I reach out to a buddy whose partner just so happens to be high level at that ISP. I then realise they are the only ones on the same ISP. Fast forward to a month ago, I set up my girlfriend on Plex but she has the same issues. He said after a while even that had to stop and buffer though so he gave up and just bought Netflix. I went through all kinds of trouble shooting and even drove over to his house one time and got it working by cranking the quality way down (480p). Then about a year ago one of my friends said nothing works anymore. So some back story here I have about half a dozen users that all rarely ever have an issue across a number of ISPs in Canada. So after about a year ish now of one of my users complaining about "Plex is so slow" or "Plex is garbage", I finally have an answer. You can search “blur video” on your phone’s App Store. So, this is not an approach that we would recommend. This could also be time-consuming if you blur each watermark from each video manually one by one. Not only does this look unappealing, but it is also quite obvious that there’s a TikTok watermark that’s been blurred out, which some may say defeats the purpose of removing it in the first place. The downside? You will need to add multiple blurs in different places to cover the watermark as it bounces around throughout the video, resulting in multiple blurry areas around your video frame. This approach relies on third-party apps or tools that you can use to add a blur effect on the watermark. TikTok adds a bouncing watermark that moves around the video as it plays, making it harder to remove it.Ĭreate Your First Post 3) Use a blur tool to cover it This is important for copyright and marketing reasons to make the origin of the media clear, so others can’t repost the videos without attribution. The Odyssey Sport layers these details over the features of the second-tier EX-L trim level, including leather seating, a moonroof, a power tailgate and a power-adjustable front passenger seat. It might not make the family minivan seem aggressive, but it is in line with Sport appearance models for other Hondas as well as with the current general popularity of black wheels and trim to spice up mainstream vehicles. The leather is accented with red stitching, and adding a menacing glow at night is red accent lighting for the dashboard, front footwells and front door handles and pockets. The dark look continues inside with black leather on the steering wheel and front- and second-row seats, along with black pillars and headliner. Sliding in between the EX-L and Touring trims, the Sport is a darker vision of the minivan with 19-inch black wheels, darkened taillights and a gloss-black finish for the grille, window pillars, door mirrors, and headlight, foglight and taillight trim. But if you’re on the fence, the 2023 Odyssey has an “edgier” new Sport trim level. If you’re shopping for a minivan, you’ve likely made peace with image issues, or you’d be shopping for a mid-size three-row SUV that seems more adventurous (while offering less practical space on a similar platform). 2022 Honda Odyssey | Manufacturer image Channel Your Inner Rebel With Blacked-Out Sport Power for all Odysseys continues to be from a 280-horsepower, V-6 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The age of this generation, which dates to 2018, shows little in tech versus rivals, and the Odyssey does not offer hybrid or all-wheel-drive versions, unlike the competing Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica minivans. Those features include lots of cabin storage (a big floor console bin, cubbies throughout and 17 cup and bottle holders) Magic Slide second-row seats that move forward, back and sideways independently great child-seat accommodation and an available CabinWatch child-viewing camera system. The Odyssey carries forward from the freshening it got for the 2021 model year and remains a capable minivan noted for ample people space for up to eight and thoughtful, family-friendly features. Related: Do You Need an All-Wheel-Drive Minivan? The result is a significant bump in the Odyssey’s cost of entry, though it’s softened a little by two years of free scheduled maintenance, a new program being added broadly for 2023 Honda vehicles. Honda still offers the minivan in five flavors, but out of the lineup is model-year 2022’s cheapest trim level, and added in the middle is a sportier, blacked-out Sport trim level. Honda’s Odyssey family hauler rolls into 2023 largely unchanged from 2022, but with a shuffled lineup. The 2023 model otherwise carries over, though with a new complimentary maintenance plan and a new trim level with black wheels. Which should you buy, 2022 or 2023? A cheaper 2022 if you can find one - and that’s the only choice if you want an LX budget trim. The other three surviving trim levels are up $850 each at this point, including an across-the-board $150 price increase since the 2023 went on sale. Pricing: The least expensive 2023 Odyssey now is the EX, which starts at $38,785 (all prices include destination) that’s $4,450 more than the discontinued, outgoing base LX and $1,050 more than the 2022 EX. The 2023 Odyssey, like other 2023 Honda vehicles, also now comes with two years of free scheduled maintenance. Meanwhile, a new mid-level Sport trim - basically a second-tier EX-L with a black appearance package and interior - has been added to the lineup. Most significant changes: The Odyssey’s base LX trim is dropped for 2023, making the new entry trim level the more expensive EX. Never allow a child to start a fire or to play near the fire.
